Last week, I touched on our exciting upcoming start-ups, ePower.com.ng and ePowerimpacts.org (They’re all still in progress, with mock-up apps set up for now)

I didn’t go deep then because I’ve seen how early hype without follow-through can end up hurting more than helping.

However, once you’re prepared and confident in your skills, sharing your plans can serve as a wonderful motivator, boosting both yourself and others.

I’m the kind of dude who likes to experience a bit of everything — trying new foods, travelling to different countries, flexing with girls and boys, smoking up some joints, soaking up new cultures, and occasionally pushing boundaries, all within reason.

In our next letter or so, we’ll share a full breakdown of this project — plus why we chose to build both a for-profit and non-profit arm under one startup.

Stay tuned if you want to. Subscribe, and you may grab a handful of tips to help you double down on your ideas.

Now, let’s focus on what truly matters today. The two websites I’m about to share with you were each built in under 45 minutes, not even an hour.

That said, they’re still evolving, just like any solid first attempt. Constant iteration is part of the process, especially when you’re just getting started.

My goal with this letter is to provide you with practical and hands-on guidance, so you can feel more confident making informed decisions on any project you’re considering and the platforms therein.

No matter what you’re building, online or otherwise, the real progress comes from starting and figuring it out along the way…

In today’s world of work, regardless of your field of work, having a digital presence is non-negotiable. If you’ve got even a hint of entrepreneurial drive like Destiny and co, you need a virtual storefront.

That’s why I decided to experiment with WIX just last weekend.

There was no grand strategy behind it; although it was, I just wanted to see what it offered so I could speak from experience when people mention it.

And honestly, Wix surprised me. It’s an excellent platform for building intuitive, visually engaging websites.

But here’s where it gets interesting: using Wix gave me a new appreciation for why Shopify remains the heavyweight champion.

Shopify is the Godfather of e-commerce. There’s something powerful about being an early mover in any space.

Early adopters don’t just lead — they often shape the entire market. In some cases, they create near-monopolies — like Google did before GPTs emerged as a real existential threat, forcing them to adapt anyway.

Like the anchor of a long-running series, they endure, vanishing only when the story itself concludes.

Shopify, as an e-commerce anchor, stands in a class of its own in my experience.

I’ve written extensively about it in my other letters, and the engagement metrics speak for themselves. Value-packed.

When a tool consistently delivers value, people pay attention — and Shopify does exactly that.

When something delivers real value, it gets noticed. Shopify isn’t just a platform for the sake of a platform; it’s a platform that lives up to the platinum standard. And you know it.

Shopify made it significantly easier for me to develop the skill of building websites online myself.

Now let’s get to the point.

We’ll break down three key strengths of both Shopify and Wix — what makes each platform attractive, and the obstacles newcomers might face when building in their ecosystems.

If you’re curious, feel free to explore my previous pieces and see why they resonate.

But in this letter, I’ll aim to keep it simple and share three core reasons to consider both Shopify and Wix.

I’ll keep it conversational, then leave you to decide what suits you best.

First, Shopify currently offers a brilliant starter plan — you can run a fully functional store for just $1 per month for three months. That’s $3 total to get up and running.

It’s an unbeatable deal for anyone testing the waters.

Wix, by contrast, doesn’t offer anything quite like that. Their most affordable plan is the Lite, which costs around 21 AUD at the time of writing.

Second, both platforms are user-friendly — but with a caveat. If you start with Wix, the interface might feel a bit overwhelming at first.

Some of the tools aren’t immediately inviting.

Shopify, on the other hand, makes onboarding smoother. Its dashboard and tools feel more welcoming, especially for beginners.

Third, Shopify offers a massive ecosystem of high-quality apps and tools to help boost performance, streamline marketing, and grow your store.

Wix has tools too, but its ecosystem isn’t as deep or as competitive as Shopify’s.

Here are both sites, included solely for reference purposes.

SHOPIFY

WIX

For the sake of this letter, we’ll treat Shopify as the King of e-commerce and Wix as the Queen.

And here’s my final verdict after building on both platforms.

Shopify: 96.99%

Wix: 79.99%

Try them yourself. See what works. But whatever you do — start building.

We can’t get better by mere reading. And if Shopify is your thing, like it is for me, begin with our partner’s link.

Do us a favour — hit the clap icon if you found this helpful. It helps more people discover this verdict and make their opinions count.

Feel free to connect or drop your score, too.

We’ll see you in the next letter.

Enjoy!
